Baden-Baden's AUGUSTAPLATZ (formerly also Heumarkt) is known for its underground car park and the artificial AUGUSTASEE with a water fountain.

In the Middle Ages it belonged to the commercial suburbs, in the 19th century it was built on with villas and stately buildings and finally got its current appearance in the 20th century with water features and an artificial lake. The square is named after Empress Augusta, who was one of Baden-Baden's most loyal visitors in the 19th century.

There is a bust of WILHELM FURTWÄNGLER (1886-1954) right next to Lake Augusta

In memory of the great conductor, a walk from Ebersteinburg to the Old Castle has been named after him. There you will also find a dedication carved into the rock, which ends with the words: "He was a friend of this landscape, he loved the solitude of its paths and the peace of its forests."

Opposite him is the bust of PIERRE de Frédy, Baron DE COUBERTIN (born January 1, 1863 in Paris, † September 2, 1937 in Geneva) was a French educator, historian and sports official. Coubertin was instrumental in reviving the Olympic Games and in 1894 founded the International Olympic Committee, of which he was second president from 1896 to 1925.

A nice place in the middle of the city and a good possibility to park in the middle of the underground station
