Obermutten (1,860 meters), a Walser settlement from the 14th century, lies in a natural valley between the Muttner Höhi and the Muttner Horn and is still inhabited all year round. Because of its historical settlement structure and building fabric, it is part of the inventory of sites of national importance in Switzerland. The wooden church (1718) is the only place of worship in Switzerland built entirely of wood. The local museum is housed in the Koprio-Huus, a Walser house from the 17th century.
