Stovepipe Wells is the Guinness Book Record holder for Hottest Place on Earth guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/highest-recorded-temperature at 56.7°C (134°F), with an average of 115°F, and top temperatures near the ground of 201°F (94°C), close to boiling. The "village" has a gas station, the Toll Road Restaurant, the Badwater Saloon, and a general store with food, groceries, and other essentials. In spring, the adjacent campground is a good base for hikes in the nearby canyons.
