Stone-age-type native petroglyphs cover the first vertical rock wall when entering the Canyon from the wide open desert plains, about 8 miles on a gravel/sandy high-clearance vehicle road from Stovepipe Wells.
One of the few spots of ancient petroglyphs easily accessible to the public. Death valley has been visited by native populations for thousands of years before Europeans arrived.
