The Plesse, a historic place that once belonged to the "foreign" Hesse, lovingly restored and is, is a worthwhile destination for hikers, cyclists and motorists. The view into the Leinetal is fantastic, the food in the Burgschänke delicious but also if you want to picnic, will find a place here - very popular is the castle wall overlooking the valley, from which you can enjoy the sunset in good weather

The parking lot at the castle Plesse is an ideal starting point for all walkers who are afraid of the altitude of the ascent. From the castle you have in good weather a beautiful view into the Leinetal, unfortunately, the keep is currently (as of May 2017) scaffolded and renovated. The Burgschänke offers delicious food and is open according to the website from March to October Tue-Fri from 11:00 and Sat + Sun from 10:00. Monday is rest day!

A trip to Plesse Castle is worthwhile. A parking lot is in the immediate vicinity and therefore the castle is also easy to reach if you do not cycle or hike up.The castle itself is in a fairly good condition, so that you can get an idea of what life was like at that time. The view from up here on the Leinetal is very beautiful. Unfortunately the large tower was closed due to the pandemic at the time of our visit.Admission to the castle itself is free of charge. A castle tavern also exists, but is closed from Monday to Wednesday.

The Plesse, located above the village of Eddigehausen, offers a beautiful view of the Leine valley. Access to the castle is free, but a donation is requested for access to the tower. Gastronomy available. The Plesse is on the edge of a high plateau on which you can go on very beautiful hikes. If you don't want to run up, you can drive to the large parking lot near the Plesse and hike from there.
