The predecessor building from the 12th Century was demolished because of dilapidated, and it was built the present church in the years 1848-1853. It is visible from far above the Galenberg.

The St. Godehardi Church of the Protestant-Lutheran parish in Bad Nenndorf was built in the years 1848 to 1853 according to the plans of the Kassel architect Julius Eugen Ruhl as a three-aisled Emporenkirche in round arch style. She replaced a building from 1136, which had to be demolished due to dilapidation. The church was thoroughly renovated between 2001 and 2005, preserving the style of the construction period inside and out until today. The municipality is located in the county of Schaumburg (Landeskirche Hannover), to her belong the villages, today districts, Kreuzriehe, Riehe, Horsten and Waltringhausen. Of the two pastors, about 6,000 parishioners are cared for. The church is open daily to visitors (in the summer from 9 to 18 o'clock, in the winter from 10 to 16 o'clock). A special gem is the historic organ from 1826, which was rebuilt several times and last renovated in 2008/09 and re-intoned.
