The Leine- und Ihmeufer is a long, narrow green area, right through the western urban area of Hanover. The park-like riverside green strip, which stretches along both sides of the banks of the Leine and Ihme, is about 5 km long and has a width that varies between 100 and 200 meters. The area is about 0.7 km². The Himepark is an important part of this waterfront green area. The "Leine- und Ihmeufer" does not include all the banks of the Leine, but only the western part of the Leine. The banks of the Leine on the Maschsee, in the city center and in the Calenberger Neustadt are spatially separated and not part of this riverside park.
