This little town has it all. It has the status of a spa town and is also home to a ski resort.
On the slopes of Piękna Góra (better known as Gołdapska Góra) a stone's throw from the town, there are five ski lifts. The town also offers beautiful green spaces. It is ideal for resting.

Bicycle - In the footsteps of Rominckich Jeleni 95 km.
NOTE: Most of the trail runs through the Romincka Forest - you will rarely find shops and catering facilities on the route, so it is worth stocking up on drinks and food before leaving the city.
We invite you to get to know the Romincka Forest.
The best means of transport is a bicycle, and the best method of sightseeing is riding along the red trail "In the footsteps of the Rominc deer". This trail leads from the Gołdap graduation towers (1) along a part of Green Velo to the town of Jurkiszki, through the entire Polish part of the Romincka Forest to the town of Żytkiejmy and back to Gołdap. On its route, in addition to enjoying the beauty of the Polish taiga, it is worth seeing a boulder commemorating Fritz Skowronnek (2), placed under a spreading oak in the area of the non-existent settlement of Szyliny, an oak alley (3) stretching for over 2 km, and the palace in Galwiecie from the second half of the 19th century century (4), the "Mechacz Wielki" reserve, the "Boczki" reserve, the Dora obelisk (5) a specific stone dedicated to the forester's daughter, the Wilhelm "2000" boulder (6), the Wilhelm "Mały" boulder (7), the Błędzianka River (8) , an obelisk commemorating the forester C.S.W. Reiffa (9) Wilhelm II's Boulder - "Under the Oaks" (10), obelisk commemorating forester Joseph Speck von Sternburg at Żytkiejmska Struga (11), PKPR headquarters in Żytkiejmy, Wilhelm II's Boulder - "In the Mud" (12), bridges in Stańczyki (13), a picturesque avenue of 229 Swedish rowan trees (14), an observation tower in Będziszew (15), a viaduct (16) and bridges over the Bludzia River (17) in Kiepojcie, a beach on Lake Przerośl (18), a palace in Zawiszyn, bridges in Botkunach on the Jarka River (19). On the route we will also encounter several educational paths of the Romincka Forest Landscape Park. The trail meets bicycle trails in several places - Green Velo, the "Bicycle Ring of the Suwałki Region", the "Podlaskie Stork Trail" and hiking trails: blue, green, red and yellow, which can also be used as bicycle trails. Thanks to this, the route can be adjusted to your needs and possibilities. When returning from the trail, let's stop at the pump room (20) on the spa promenade to quench our thirst at the end of the trip with mineral water drawn from Upper Cretaceous holes from a depth of 426.0 m.

The origins of the town of Gołdap date back to the second half of the 16th century. In 1565, Prince Albrecht Hohenzoller decided to found a town near the Lithuanian border in order to strengthen this part of East Prussia. A place lying on the Gołdap River was chosen for the new settlement. It was the village of Szyłajty, which in 1570 was granted town rights and named Gołdap after the flowing river.
