At the end of the Second World War, the EIBIA was the largest powder producer of the Third Reich, with almost one third of the powder consumed coming from the plants in Bomlitz, Dörverden and Liebenau. On April 16, 1945, the British troops reached Bomlitz and put an end to war production in the village. On April 16, 1945, the Böhmebrücke was blown up to keep hostilities from Uetzingen and Bomlitz.
