In the Tietlinger juniper grove near the grave of Hermann Löns is this monument to the pagan poet. All around are ancient juniper bushes, tall birches and of course heathland. A little way off, a herd of sweats roams around.

The mystery of the lion's grave in the heath

They come at dawn. In November 1934, a group of SA men took the zinc coffin from the Fallingbostel cemetery chapel and buried it near Barrl, a nest somewhere on the highway from Soltau to Hamburg. In the zinc coffin: the bones of Hermann Löns, the so-called heath poet. Or not?
