In the woods around Ashford Castle you can also find the stone tower of the castle, built in 1864 - an imposing structure, which is reminiscent of earlier times and can also be viewed from the inside.

In the village of Cong there is an explanatory board that describes that the tower was actually already useless when it was built in 1864, a rich man's spinning mill. After all, the trees were even lower then, so that you could probably see the Pantry mountains, lakes and castle. Today it is more of a replacement for a treetop path - nothing else.

The Guinesstower is a bit hidden in the forest. Guiness does not exist here (unfortunately) 🙄
