The Treasure Hunter Fountain bears an inscription admonishing: "Do not dig treasures with spades, seek them in noble deeds," which refers to the noble foundation of Margarethe Krupp.

"As a landmark of the settlement is the lower narrow side of the small market delimiting guest house" Margarethenhöhe "from 1911. This fountain is a landmark for Margarethenhöhe, like the Little Mermaid for Copenhagen or the Maneken Pis for Brussels. For decades, the fountain was featured on the letterhead of the local shooting and heritage association, founded in 1954 and dissolved in 2009.

The fountain, created by Professor Enseling, was inaugurated on July 20, 1912. It was erected by the city of Essen in gratitude for the founding of Margarethenhöhe in the Kleiner Markt (Small Market).

    The fountain bears the inscription:

"Do not dig treasures with spades, seek them in noble deeds."
