Walk through the "Stone Age"
On the outskirts of Alsenz, along the streambed of the river of the same name, is the "German Sandstone Park".

The large-format sandstone rocks exhibited there come from various mining areas throughout Germany, as well as from different geological eras. The oldest stone of the exhibition was created in the Middle Ages, 375 to 390 million years ago. The youngest stone is attributed to the era of the Lower Cretaceous. Its creation dates back 97 to 140 million years. The German sandstone park Alsenz is unique in the Federal Republic.

It impressively shows the variety of sandstone deposits in our country.
