Teufelshöhle (Schinderhannes Cave)

The Romans knocked out large blocks of sandstone from what was originally a crevice in the Heidenfels, which was barely more than a meter wide, which they needed to build the Roman villa in Boos. This created the cave that later served Germanic settlers as a home. The robber captain Schinderhannes is also said to have found shelter there.
That is why the Teufelshöhle is also called Schinderhanneshöhle.

Unfortunately, there are no longer any correct routes to the cave, although they are still shown on the maps. You have to make your way across country more or less. This is still relatively possible in winter and spring.

The best way to get there with GPS is from below, the path that leads from above to the vicinity is currently completely overgrown with blackberries.

There is no paved road to get there and the terrain is very steep and impassable.
Be sure to bring very good shoes and hiking sticks with you.
There are a lot of boulders under the leaves - caution is advised.
Please do not disturb the bats in the cave excessively (from November to April, for example, inspections are prohibited) and be considerate of nature.
