The memorial tower for the Battle of Großbeeren in 1813 is a 32 meter high, listed building in Großbeeren, a municipality in the northern part of the district of Teltow-Fläming (Brandenburg). It was built on the 100th anniversary of the victorious Battle of Großbeeren and inaugurated on August 23, 1913. It is considered the symbol of the place.

On the north facade, the builders placed the following inscription above a battle scene with a horse: “Here on August 23, 1813, the French army was defeated by the Prussian troops under General von Bülow. The victory saved Berlin from the threat of French occupation.” The years “1813” and “1913” are attached above it.

The tower was extensively renovated between 1998 and 2001. For around 1,850,000 DM (of which around one million DM was subsidies from the district), the tower received an internal steel skeleton for reinforcement; Cracks that appeared on the facade were treated and a spiral staircase with 137 steps, starting from the museum hall, was installed, which leads to the viewing platform. The tower and redesigned museum opened on August 24, 2001.

With a tiny museum and a great 360° view from the top, you can spend anything between 5 minutes and maybe ... 1 hour?

... Unless you start talking to the guide >_<

Entrance is free, but donations are accepted :-)
