The red sandstone is of great importance in the entire region. For many years he was formative for life in the village. Above all, 2 professions emerged from him: the stonemasons and the bargemen. The latter were used to transport the heavy stones. The quarries are evidence of the 19th and early 20th centuries, a time when enormous profits could be made from mining and trade. The old church in the Reistenhausen district of Collenberg, which was renovated and rebuilt for this project, presents the complex facets of the topics "geology", extraction", "processing", "transport", use" and "welfare and woe" and wants to fascinate visitors which connects with the Buntsandstein.

The exhibition together with the "BUNTSANDSTEIN-ERLEBNISWEG" forms a joint and complementary project.
