Dipsea Trail is one of the iconic paths across the flanks of Mt Tamalpais between Mill Valley and Stinson Beach. The route of a national race of endurance, this section between Muir Beach and Cardiac Hill will raise your heartbeat if taken uphill, but also if taken downhill because of its beautiful views
This is the main entrance and visitor center to Muir Woods, where you can go in with your Annual Pass or just $5 if you want to support our National Parks (❤️ Thank You !❤️ ).
If you have to get in free come on one of the 5 or so free days per year (beware the masses) or simply hike in anytime from the North or East side -- e.g. you come by bike or park on Panoramic Highway and hike down Alice Eastwood Rd, or hike through the Tourist Club for a real Bavarian beer and pretzels (though these cost more than $5 so do the right thing ❤️).

To experience one of California's most memorable attractions, be sure to visit this stately forest just a short hop north of San Francisco. Facing the sea and tucked into a fold of Mount Tamalpais, the conspicuous peak just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, Muir Woods National Monument protects the last surviving stand of coast redwoods in the Bay Area, where loggers otherwise lived until the late 19th century th century had deforested the entire region.
Originally protected by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908, the national monument was named after the eminent naturalist John Muir, who declared the site "the best arborist monument imaginable that could be found in any forest on earth." Even on busy summer days, there is a remarkable stillness over the forest, especially in the early morning hours. If you follow the raised boardwalks, which are designed to protect the delicate root structure of the trees, you will see sequoias, some of which are over a century old and tower up to 75 meters straight into the sky.

As everywhere else in the world, a souvenir shop should not be missing here. Practical - there is a water dispenser that you can use after a long walk.

The impressive tall redwoods group in the Founders Grove are dedicated to the people around John Muir who shared and supported the vision to create the National Parks. One of the sequoias was named after Gifford Pinchot in honor of the first chief of the US Forest Service. Pssssst, you're entering a sacred living forest 🌲

We are very impressed by these huge trees. I couldn't capture the full size with my camera, so I'm adding a few cell phone photos as well. The largest specimen in Mui Woods is 78 m high, about the same height as a 23-story building.

A great park not far from San Francisco. Unfortunately, the parking situation is unsatisfactory. But once in the park you should enjoy these redwoods.
