Maesgwm is also known as Telegraph Valley. The trail is gravel and well-made, brilliant to ride and much quieter than the main Llanberis path. It makes a great loop from Llanberis, using a section of the Ranger.

Although Foel Goch stands nearly 1,640 feet (500 m) shy of Snowdon, this route between the 1,985 foot (605 m) peak and the 2,211 foot (674 m) Moel Cynghorion is no less impressive.

The trail is fractured and technical but smooths out once it begins running alongside the mountain railway path.

Choose this way down and you can race the steam engine most of the way to Llanberis!
