The Eva fountain is located directly in front of the market at the town hall. It was built in 1912, and was often the subject of conversation with the naked female figure, so that the sculpture was often covered with robes.

He is right in front of the town hall. Recommendation: if you walk along the Lange Straße, with its many small shops, you finally come to the Frauenkirche.

The trade and industrial exhibition held in Grimma in 1908 closed with a profit of almost 9,000 marks. Of this, 4,500 marks were earmarked for the construction of a monumental fountain on the market square. Since this money alone was not enough for a representative fountain, the city council turned to the Saxon Ministry of the Interior in order to be able to receive funds from the art fund. In May 1910, the ministry approved the request and commissioned the Academic Council in Dresden to organize a competition among the Saxon artists or those living in Saxony. The support of the academic council was also given because in the years before the First World War it preferred fountains for the execution of plastic works. The maximum amount for the fountain was set at 15,000 marks, of which the city had to pay 3,000 marks. In addition, she had to pay for all additional costs and the removal of the glass veranda in front of the town hall. In retrospect, the relatively modest financial contribution made by the city outweighed the fact that, by making use of the art fund, all participation in the execution of the fountain had to be foregone. By October 29th of that year, 69 designs had been submitted to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. If you consider the aforementioned restriction to Saxon artists, a proud number.
