From May to October it is possible to visit the castle by participating in one of the guided tours that take place every two hours.
You can sweeten the waiting time with a visit to the small café at the castle gate. A walk around the castle on the circular route and a visit to the powder tower opposite with a wonderful view of the Schlern massif is also recommended.

The castle Prösels is located near Völs, east of Bolzano, in South Tyrol. It is the ancestral castle of the Lords of Völs, first mentioned in 1279 as "castrum Presil", but probably built around 1200 by the lords of Völs, noblemen of the bishops of Bressanone, and in the early 16th century by the then governor of Tyrol, Leonhard von Völs, extended to a Renaissance palace complex. Today's palace complex is almost exclusively the work of Leonhard. In 1981 the castle was acquired by KURATORIUM SCHLOSS PRÖSELS GmbH.
