The bridge near Sluiskil where everyone who lives in the area has stood in front of it! For one it is a moment of pause and for the other an irritation. Opened in 1969 and was then one of the largest swing bridges in Europe (I was told). It is a bit of a climb by bike, but that makes the descent worthwhile!

Road cycling

Please note: the bridge over the Ghent-Terneuzen Sea Canal is regularly opened to allow large seagoing vessels to pass. Then you will easily be waiting 10 minutes. If you just want to cycle back and forth from Antwerp to the center of Sas van Gent for a coffee break, a good alternative is De Baeckermat tavern-restaurant in Westdorpe.
