The Oldenburg bascule railway bridge crosses the Hunte, which is 60 meters wide. It is a listed building.
The bridge serves the two railway lines Oldenburg – Bremen and Oldenburg – Osnabrück. It was built between 1946 and 1954 near the Oldenburg railway water tower as a replacement for the swing bridge from 1866, which was destroyed in 1945. It is for train traffic (double-track, with overhead lines since electrification in 1982) as well as pedestrians and cyclists.
