The Airlift Memorial in Frankfurt was opened on 26.06.1985, the thirty-seventh anniversary of the beginning of the Airlift to Berlin. In 2008, after the complete withdrawal of U.S.. Air Force, the entire area would be redesigned by Fraport AG and the two restored aircraft will be restored.

The center of the entire area is the sculpture of an indicated bridge arch made of concrete whose three rays symbolize the three air corridors to Berlin. The pedestal contains a memorial for the victims. An equal counterpart to this is the Berlin Tempelhof Airport (built in 1951) and in smaller form in Celle. On the site next to the "bridge arch" are the two "raisin bombers" Douglas C-47 and Douglas C-55 which, however, are only viewed from the outside

The monument can be reached either by bike via the cycle path that leads along the eastern airport fence from Mörfelden-Walldorf to Frankfurt (Airport Terminal 2) or from Zeppelinheim, which is a few minutes' walk away, via a short forest path and the pedestrian bridge over the A5.
