About halfway up the 4WD gravel road into Cottonwood Canyon the valley walls come closely together, forming impressive narrow sections with colorful rock walls rising to both sides. These are the first impressive narrows along the gravel road; there are more narrows further south along the road, and along the trail beyond the end of the road.
