On the left bank of the Mosel are two old Krahnen, there are stone buildings from the 15th century. The construction method they are cranes with two wheels. Both cranes are a cultural-historical, industrial and economic landmark of the city.

The “Old Krahnen” dates from 1413, while the younger “Toll Crane” (with a detached foundation) dates from 1774.

The Old Krahnen (old spelling with an 'h'), also called the Old Moselle Crane, is a harbor crane in Trier. The stone building from 1413 stands on today's Krahnen bank on the right bank of the Moselle.
