The Church of the Resurrection was created from the original considerations of a cemetery chapel. Burials have been taking place in the "New Cemetery" since 1874. However, due to the First World War and the subsequent inflation, it was not until the beginning of the 1930s - around 60 years later - that concrete thought was given to building a parish church. On Eternal Sunday 1931, the "Church of the Resurrection" was consecrated under the words from Paul's letter to the Romans:
