    around 1200, the church was built in Romanesque proportions, facing east according to the sunrise of the knightly saint St. George, for the residents of the manor house and settlement of the marshals of Dietfurt, responsible as administrators and pastors under the counts of Weimar-Orlamünde in the castle and town.
    around 1500, Tiefurt became the widow's estate of the Weimar dukes. Choir with medieval altar mensa, which shows traces of a retable altar, of which carved figures are still mentioned around 1900. Tower offset on axis with tower chapel and tracery windows.

On the galleries, a gallery of apostles after J. Callot. Duke's chair with coat of arms from 1716 indicates authentic performance venue of J. S. Bach.
    Circa 1740 new tower roof for secondary use, originally intended for Berka. Striking clock, two bells. Small organ (J.G.Schröter/Erfurt?) on the second gallery.1776 Second-generation residence church of Prince Constantin, later summer residence of his mother Anna Amalia and his nephew Carl Friedrich.
    In the 19th century, the park was designed with dominant sightlines to the church. Gothic church windows were enlarged and the already weakened roof was covered with slate.
