    The Naviglio Pavese was born as a navigable canal that connected Milan to Pavia; it takes the waters from the Porta Ticinese dock in Milan and flows into the Ticino in Pavia following the course of the ancient 'postal route'. It has a length of 33.1 km and a width of about 10.8 m at the bottom and 11.8 m above the water. While running alongside the older 'Navigliaccio', it combined both the irrigation function and that of a transport route.
