And unlike other slag heaps in the area, there is a path here that you can actually ride all the way up on a touring bike (even if it is strenuous). On the last upper section of the ascent path, slabs have even been laid instead of gravel to give the bike tires a better grip.

The Carl-Alexander Park in Baesweiler, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy outdoor activities. This park was created on the site of a former coal mine and has been beautifully transformed into a green oasis. It has well-maintained paths for walking, jogging and cycling, as well as beautiful meadows and flowerbeds perfect for picnics.
One of the highlights is the Bergfoyer, a futuristic red building that serves as an information and orientation center with a café. From there, you can take a scenic climb up the old slag heap, which offers stunning panoramic views from the plateau.
