In 1912, a school garden was built in the vicinity of Schönfeld Castle on the site of what is now the Botanical Garden. After the earthworks had been completed, the botanical school garden was completed in 1916, the year of the war. This year is considered the official "year of birth" of the Botanical Garden. In 1982 the area was reduced to a simple green area. In 2002, the re-establishment of the Botanical Garden by the Environment and Garden Authority of the City of Kassel finally began.
In the cactus show house you will find over 300 different cacti and succulents.
