The Schlierengrat separates the Gross-Schlierental in Obwalden from the Rotbachtal in Lucerne (through which the Faith Mountain Pass road leads down to Finsterwald). The ridge is densely forested. The view often opens up into the Rotbach valley and onto Rickhubel and Schimbrig; however, the view of Mount Pilatus is obstructed by the forest. However, this is not a disadvantage. In the forest, which hasn't been managed for what feels like 100 years, a "primeval landscape" is forming again, in which a number of dead trees form an interesting contrast to the blueberry bushes and the still vital forest.

Very nice, shady root path - you can't really take photos, you have to experience it yourself
