Right next to the panorama restaurant, the summit gallery leads to the panorama viewing platform in the north face of the Stockhorn. From here you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of Thun, Lake Thun, the Aare and Gürbetal, the Mittelland to the Jura and on clear days to Alsace and the southern Black Forest.
The fantastic distant view is a delight for young and old, big and small. The panoramic viewing platform is also easily accessible for people in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties and families with prams.
For guests who are particularly interested in geology, for families and school classes, there are numerous information boards in the summit gallery on the way to the platform. The unique specimen of a wonderful large calcite crystal from the region can also be admired there.

Wonderful view of Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps

The most worthwhile hike from Gurnigel watershed (with PostBus reachable, 2x in each direction from Riggisberg or - continue - Schwarzenburg) on ​​the Leiterepass on Stockhorn (Bergbeiz with great views, then with aerial cable car down), about 5 hours walking time. Attention: even in late spring (and again from late autumn onwards) it may be covered with snow and then it is impassable or dangerously steep down the edge of the Nünenen. On Obernünenen and on the upper Walalp in the summer Restoration with alp cheese sale (especially good the old on Walalp!). Reverse direction unfavorable: thin postbus timetable.

Great views and the climb is in all gaits to do (from the valley, from the middle station or if you want directly to below the summit). Definitely during the week, there was enough going on.

From the middle station several different challenging circular walks are possible. Feasible for families with children to more demanding mountain walks. Whenever possible also plan the Berggasthaus Oberstockenalp. They have great mountain cheese and a cozy mountain terrace overlooking the Stockhorn.

Definitely worth a visit. Nice area, good panoramic view. Simply great.
