Anyone who has seen him in his unobtrusive friendliness will never forget the encounter with Kurt Albert. Here was his favorite place. The smooth rock face "Glatte Wand" in the idyllic surroundings with the wonderful view may have been the reason. After his fatal accident on the Höhenglücksteig he was buried not far from here in the cemetery in Niederfellendorf.

Kurt Albert (January 18, 1954 - September 28, 2010) was a mountaineer and photographer. On September 26, 2010, Kurt Albert fell 18 meters on the Höhenglücksteig via ferrata and was seriously injured. He died of his injuries two days later in an Erlangen hospital. The funeral service for Albert, which was attended by around 700 people - including many top climbers - was held on October 9, 2010 below the smooth wall at the Muschelquelle (Streitberg) in the Franconian Jura.
