The chapel is beautifully situated on a rocky outcrop above the valley. Nice photo opportunity and great view.

The chapel of Ermita Guadalupe sits enthroned above the upper Argaga gorge. From here you have a wide view over two valleys at the same time: The Argaga gorge (in this area still "Barranco de Matanza", in the background the Valle Gran Rey.) At this chapel there is a yearly fiesta, it is even closed by car If you continue on the path, you will return to Chipude via an old footpath / trail.

The chapel Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe was built in 1542 by the First Count of La Gomera, Guillen Peraza de Ayala, in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the island's patron saint. Inside the chapel there is a statue of the patron saint, a carved figure of the Virgin Mary from the 16th century. The chapel received its special T-shaped shape through an extension and fundamental renovation in the second half of the 19th century.
Every five years this place becomes the scene of a spectacle: during the "Bajada de la Virgen" the statue of the Virgin is brought across the sea to San Sebastian. Numerous believers and onlookers witness this solemn procession, which lasts several weeks.
The pilgrimage church is located on a plateau in the Reserva Natural Especial de Puntallana nature reserve on La Gomera. When the weather is good you can see as far as Tenerife from here.
