The Krämerbrücke is the oldest secular building in Erfurt and is one of the city's most famous landmarks, with a bridge built on both sides with half-timbered houses. It is the longest bridge in Europe with houses built on it. The pedestrian bridge spans the Gera, known here as Breitstrom, and connects Benediktsplatz in the old town center with the Wenigemarkt in the eastern extension of the old town. Today, the 32 houses mostly house shops for arts and crafts and antiques.
[wikipedia] Highly recommended - the Augustinian monastery right here at the ford behind the bridge. At the ford itself you can take a rest, stretch your legs and simply enjoy the hustle and bustle.
