The Timmendorfer Lighthouse was commissioned on October 1, 1872, and in 1931, its height was increased by 3.6 meters to its current height of 21 meters. This section remained unpainted, unlike the white-painted lower section. Since 1978, the tower has been remotely controlled. From 1996 to 1997, the listed brick tower had to be stabilized and partially rebuilt. During the work, all of the lighthouse technology was replaced.
