The Passo di Portello is one of the most beautiful climbs from the Val Fontanabuona. With each of the 15 kilometers in total, the view through the side valley of Val Fontanabuona becomes more beautiful. In the upper area you can enjoy a magnificent view of the deep blue Mediterranean Sea. With good visibility you can see as far as Corsica.
The short driveway from the Val Trebbia runs mostly in the forest and is therefore much less spectacular.

If you are looking for a slight transition from the Trebbiatal to the Valle Fontanabuona, the Passo di Portello is the simplest way from the north.
Above is the Scoffera, but you have to climb the valley for a few more kilometers.
