The Chevril Dam lake, or Tignes, is decorated with a very pretty statue by the Italian artist Livio Benedetti, named "The Lady of the Lake". The sculpture is located between the banks and the road, therefore easily accessible to be admired.
Another work of art is located on the dam itself and therefore more difficult to see. It is a gigantic wall fresco representing Hercules who seems to be holding back water by his sole force.
It is the highest French dam. It supplies two hydroelectric power stations.

The Tignes dam (French “Barrage du Chevril”) is a dam near the winter sports resort of Tignes in France in the Savoie department. It dams the Isère to the “Lac du Chevril”, in which in 1952 the old village of Tignes disappeared.
The dam has a 180 m high arch dam as a barrier structure. At the time of its construction it was the largest arch dam in Europe. The designer was André Coyne.
