A beautiful sight. The lake is dammed by a 180 m high arch dam. When it was built, it was the tallest in Europe. Unfortunately, it is barely recognizable but on the dam wall is a huge fresco depicting Herakles.

The Tignes dam (French "Barrage du Chevril") is a dam near the winter sports resort of Tignes in France in the Savoie department. It builds up the Isère to the "Lac du Chevril", in which the old village of Tignes disappeared in 1952.
The dam has a 180 m high arch dam as a barrier. At the time of its construction, it was the largest arch dam in Europe. The designer was André Coyne.
