Eldridge Grade descends from the north-side of East Ridge Boulevard (on your right if you're coming down from Mt Tam's East Summit), about where Old Railroad Trail comes in from the South. It is probably one of the rockiest fire roads in the Bay Area, particularly after heavy winter rains. The trail used to be open only to uphill mountain bike traffic but is actually easier to go downhill than up (Old Railroad is great to go uphill). With a full-suspension bike it's a fantastic downhill blur, beginners can do it too, albeit slow. At the intersection with Indian Fire Road you can either decide to continue on Eldridge north down toward Lake Lagunitas ( komoot.com/highlight/153288 ), or turn right onto Indian Fire Road to drop along its ridge into Ross or Kent ( komoot.com/highlight/153287 ) or loop back toward Mill Valley via Blithdale trail and then down Old Railroad Grade, or south around the mountain to Mountain Home via Hoo-Koo-Ee-Koo/Gravity Car Trails.
