The shortest connection between Muir Beach and Tennessee Beach for hikers is the steep coastal trail along the Marin Headland cliffs facing the Pacific ocean. Bikers must take the, even steeper, Coastal Fireroad climbing up the Franks Valley from Green Gulch Trail with at times 20% inclines to the top of Coyote Ridge.
The next segment from the intersection with Coyote Ridge Trail (open to bikes) the Coastal Fireroad drops south, past Fox Trail (hikers only) and merges with Coastal Trail to continue to the bottom of Tennessee Valley.
