One should not confuse the Kuhmühlenbrücke (road bridge) with the Kuhmühlenteichbrücke (elevated railway bridge). The Kuhmühlenteichbrücke is an overpass of the circular line of the U-Bahn Hamburg over the western end of the Kuhmühlenteich. It connects the Hamburg districts of Uhlenhorst in the north and Hohenfelde in the south and is a registered cultural monument with the number 23305, making it part of the monument ensemble that includes the subway route section from Mundsburg to Uhlandstraße, including all bridges. Due to its shape, the elaborate design of the abutments and its location in the park-like surroundings of the Kuhmühleteich, it is often referred to as the most beautiful bridge on the elevated railway. The bridge was built in 1911/12 according to designs by the architects Ludwig Raabe and Otto Wöhlecke, the main architects of the Hamburger Hochbahn before the First World War. Because of the scenic beauty at the Kuhmühlenteich with the St. Gertrude Church in the east and the view over the Mundsburg Canal to the Outer Alster in the west, a filigree iron arch bridge with a span of 55 meters was built instead of the originally planned bridge with many supports. The bridge had already been completed a month before the inaugural run of the subway between the town hall and Barmbek on February 15, 1912.The granite-clad abutments of the bridge are elaborately decorated. The outward-facing sides of each of the four pillars each have a symbolic representation for one of the four elements. In the upper part there is a relief that shows the mastery of the element, in the surrounding band below there are animal representations that match the respective element. For example, in “Water” the male figure catches the rain with one arm while the female figure fills a jug with water. Fish were chosen as animal figures.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuhm%C3%BChlenteichbr%C3%BCcke
