Lots of tracks run through the woods parallel to Halifax Road. The lower one is the easiest to ride, especially if you’re on a gravel bike. There are loads of tree roots to look out for though.

Some great sections of trail through the woods. If you're on a mountain bike, keep to the high line for some tight singletrack and steep rollers.

We are a 68 year old couple and did this on eBikes suitable for gravel riding. Some of the tree routes meant a dismount but we completed this section and really enjoyed it. If you ride into the village (left) after you leave the woods at the top of Hermit Hill onto Halifax Road there is a great farm shop with hot meat rolls etc.... take the left towards the Pennine trail.
