      Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau had to sell Bad Muskau in 1845 for financial reasons and bought Branitz as his retirement home. This is where he retired at the age of 60 and had a beautiful English-style park built on 830ha. His words: my landscapes will bear witness to me for centuries ... came true, but what he certainly did not know was that after the Second World War the family was expropriated and the park became public property. Unfortunately, the park was hit by over 50 bombs in 1945, but was restored afterwards.

      The park's landmarks are its two pyramids, each of which surely knows at least the water pyramid. Prince Pückler found his final resting place here in 1871.
