Villa Hügel, located above Lake Baldeney, is the former home of the industrialist Krupp family. It was built between 1870 and 1873 on behalf of Alfred Krupp, embedded in a 28-hectare park. With 269 rooms, the impressive, castle-like villa is the largest single-family home in the country. Today it serves as a venue for concerts and exhibitions.

An absolute tip. You should have been here and informed about the local history. A really great exhibition. The highlight actually begins with the approach if you still think about whether you are right here at the entrance or have to look for another entrance. You pay at the entrance and then drive through the park to the villa.

Hiking

1914 followed with the new guesthouse the last newly built building on the grounds of Villa Hill. Today there are rooms of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach Foundation. It was built at the southeast corner of the workshop. It replaced the old guest house, which was meanwhile inhabited by Margarethe Krupp. The two-storey, brick-blinded building had working, dining and dining rooms as well as a kitchen and library.
