Small fountain, with a great seat opportunity, and super nice hiking trails

The Melitabrunnen was taken in 1894 and was a wedding present for the first wife of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, Grand Duchess Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

The fountain is beautifully situated in a small clearing

During the first visit we met three people who filled two boxes with water because the well water is so low in lime and therefore ideal for making tea and is also monitored by the health department.

In addition, the small stream and rest area offer a great opportunity for children to play and take a break. (Don't forget rain or mud pants and rubber boots.)

The water is delicious. Here I met a couple that filled 3 canisters, because the water was, in contrast to the gutterstadt tap water, lime-poor.

Great drinking water that the residents of Eberstadt fill up in bottles and take home with them!
