Along with the pyramids of Giza, it is the highlight of every trip to Egypt and the destination of millions of visitors every year: the great temple city of Karnak. In fact, the ruins of Karnak, two kilometers north of Luxor, are much more than just the remains of a temple. It is a huge complex of many different temples and cult facilities that are related to each other. The religious heart of Egypt beat here for many centuries.
