A magnificent building from the 18th Dynasty. Definitely worth seeing, but also a tragic place. In a terrible bloodbath on the temple grounds, on 17 November 1997, 62 people were killed, mostly Western tourists.

The colossal mortuary temple of Hatshepsut lies in the Deir el-Bahari valley (Thebes, now Luxor) in the Egyptian desert, open to the Nile, behind the Valley of the Kings. It is the best-preserved limestone temple of the 18th Dynasty and is primarily dedicated to the gods Hathor and Amun-Re.
