    The elevated position of the parish church of St. Laurentius on the edge of the village of Tengen refers to its former function as a fortified fortified church. The core of the current building is early Gothic (13th century), as shown by small, bricked-up pointed arch windows on the south wall. Several renovations have changed St. Laurentius significantly: the new tower (1518), a comprehensive renovation with baroque changes (around 1730), restorations (1880, 1909), a massive expansion through the construction of a new choir, transept and sacristy (1929/30) and finally the elevation of the tower (1934).
