Hiking Highlight
A great hiking trail for young and old runs around the Happurg reservoir, ideal for a weekend excursion. If that's not enough, you can continue to climb the Houbirg, where there is a fantastic view. You will also find great rock formations and caves there.

The terrain around the lake is designated as a nature reserve. Due to the good water sports, the resort Happurg located directly on the shores of the lake has become a well-known meeting place for surfers and sailors. Furthermore, there are designated Nordic walking trails and a pedal boat rental on site.

A path leads around the lower reservoir that is used equally by pedestrians, cyclists, hikers and Nordic walkers. It can get crowded, especially on the weekends.

A hike / walk around the Happurger reservoir is always worthwhile. The lake is fed by the Rohrbach and Kainsbach. The pumped-storage power plant Happurg, which went into operation in 1958, generates electrical energy with the water of the lake and the associated upper basin on the Deckersberg.

During the week very pleasant corner. Not so recommendable on weekends in summer if you are looking for peace and quiet, can be overcrowded and noisy.

A beautiful circular hiking trail leads around the lake, on which many benches invite you to linger and "enjoy the landscape". There is also a "history trail" along the path that was created on the occasion of the "950th anniversary" in Happurg.
There were only a few walkers today, but there is a lot going on here at the weekend.
