    Tips

Lake Louise is a beautiful lake surrounded by the Canadian Rockies and a must see in Banff National Park. The lake has a very amazing and bright colour, especially from top of Big Beehive, the emerald colour of the water comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciers that overlook the lake. There are several hiking paths which you can combine to one day hike. All paths are very well maintained, so you do not need much equipment. A few teahouses along the way offer snacks and drinks, still I recommend to carry some water and snacks along. Here is my most important advice: It's best to be at Lake Louise before 9 am, as many tourists will arrive by bus after 9 am, also it's much easier to find a parking lot, if you travel by car.

Lake Louise in Banff National Park is a dream. The turquoise water against this mountain backdrop is a real eye-catcher. However, the lake is overrun with tourists. If you are lucky you can get a parking space at the lake. The alternative car park is 5 km away. School buses then serve as shuttles. There are trails of different lengths for hiking around the lake.

Those who visit Lake Louise should also take the time to ascend to the Plain of Six Glaciers.
